Job Title: Site Manager

Location: Nationwide (travel required)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full time)

Responsible to: Operations Manager

Accountable to: Managing Director

Job Summary

The site manager is responsible for the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of all mezzanine installations on site. 

The role ensures all projects are completed in line with drawings, specifications and company standards. 

The site manager leads installation teams, manages site operations, and ensures compliance with all health and safety requirements. 

They are responsible for preventing issues on site through proactive planning, leadership and problem solving. 

The Site Manager must lead from the front, support their team, and step into hands-on work when required.

They are expected to deputise for the Operations Manager where necessary and support wider business needs.

2. Main Responsibilities 

  • Take full responsibility for day-to-day site operations
  • Manage installation teams and allocate tasks
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with drawings and specifications
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship at all times
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are used correctly
  • Monitor project progress and ensure deadlines are met
  • Communicate effectively with yard and office teams
  • Identify and resolve issues before they escalate
  • 1Ensure site is kept clean, organised and safe
  • Follow all company policies and procedures at all times
  • Take full accountability for site performance and outcomes

2. 1 Service Delivery and Accountability

  • Ensure all installations are completed to a high standard
  • Take ownership of any issues arising on site
  • Ensure all work is completed within agreed timeframes
  • Ensure customer satisfaction on all projects
  • Proactively manage risks to project delivery

2.2 Financial Responsibility

  • Minimise waste of materials on site
  • Ensure efficient use of labour and time
  • Reduce costs associated with return visits to site
  • Support cost-saving initiatives where possible

2.3 Performance Management

  • Set clear expectations for site operatives
  • Monitor team performance daily
  • Address underperformance immediately
  • Ensure productivity targets are met
  • Maintain accountability within the team

2.4 Leadership, Deputising & Flexibility

  • Lead and manage the site team effectively
  • Provide training and support to staff
  • Step into hands-on roles when required
  • Deputise for the Operations Manager when necessary
  • 2Support other teams where required
  • Demonstrate flexibility to meet business needs

2.5 Health & Safety

  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Conduct site inductions where required
  • Enforce PPE usage at all times
  • Carry out risk assessments and method statements
  • Ensure safe working practices are followed
  • Address hazards immediately

2.6 Site Control & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all work meets required quality standards
  • Carry out regular checks throughout installation
  • Ensure correct installation techniques are followed
  • Prevent defects and ensure issues are resolved promptly
  • Ensure final checks are completed before handover

3. Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Installation

  • Take full responsibility for the successful delivery of all installation projects on
  • site
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with drawings, specifications, and company
  • standards
  • Plan and organise daily site activities to ensure work is carried out efficiently and
  • within agreed timelines
  • Monitor progress and adjust plans where required to avoid delays
  • Ensure all installations meet required quality standards before completion and
  • handover

Team Management & Supervision

  • Manage and supervise all Site Operatives on site
  • Allocate tasks and ensure all team members understand their responsibilities
  • Monitor performance and ensure work is carried out to the required standard
  • Provide guidance, support, and instruction to team members
  • Address poor performance, unsafe behaviour, or failure to follow instructions
  • immediately

Health & Safety (CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITY)

  • Take full responsibility for health and safety on site
  • Ensure all operatives follow risk assessments, method statements, and site rules
  • Enforce the use of all required PPE at all times
  • Carry out site inductions where required
  • Identify and address hazards, unsafe behaviour, and risks immediately
  • Stop work where necessary if safety standards are not being met

Quality Control & Standards

  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard of workmanship
  • Carry out regular checks throughout the installation process
  • Identify defects or issues early and take corrective action
  • Ensure all work meets client expectations and company standards
  • Conduct final checks before project completion

Material Management & Coordination

  • Check all materials delivered to site and ensure they match job requirements
  • Report any missing, damaged, or incorrect items immediately
  • Coordinate with the Yard Manager and Operations Manager to resolve material
  • issues
  • Ensure materials are used correctly and efficiently to minimise waste

Planning, Organisation & Reporting

  • Plan daily work activities and ensure tasks are completed in line with programme
  • Communicate progress, issues, and updates to the Operations Manager
  • Maintain clear records where required (e.g. site issues, delays, incidents)
  • Ensure smooth coordination between yard, site, and office teams

Client & Site Interaction

  • Act as the main point of contact on site for clients, contractors, and other
  • stakeholders
  • Represent Mezz One in a professional and courteous manner at all times
  • Manage client expectations and respond to queries or concerns
  • Ensure a positive customer experience throughout the project

Accountability & Problem Solving

  • Take full ownership of all site operations and outcomes
  • Identify problems early and take proactive action to resolve them
  • Do not pass responsibility — ensure issues are dealt with effectively
  • Ensure deadlines are met and any risks to delivery are managed

Flexibility & Operational Support

  • Be willing to step into hands-on installation work when required
  • Support other sites or operational areas where necessary
  • Adapt to changing workloads, project demands, and business needs
  • Travel and stay away from home where required

5. Terms of Employment

  • This role is subject to a 6-month probation period.
  • Performance will be reviewed regularly.

7. Yard Support & Cross-Operational Working

The Site Manager may be required to support yard operations where necessary to meet business demands. This includes assisting with the preparation of materials, loading of vehicles, and general yard duties.

The post holder is expected to work flexibly across both site and yard environments and must be willing to step into these duties as required to ensure operational efficiency.

The Site Manager must maintain the same standards of accuracy, safety, and accountability when working within the yard as they would on site. This includes following all yard procedures, supporting the Yard Manager where needed, and ensuring deadlines are met.
